Sathyabama University is a pioneer in Engineering Education and was established in the year 1987 with the aim of providing quality higher education in the areas of Engineering, Science and Technology. It persistently seeks and adopts innovative methods to improve the quality of higher education on a consistent basis.
Having acquired excellence in the academic part of education with all sophisticated facilities, the University has established several research centers in collaborations with esteemed National Research organizations.
The University has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and ISO 9001: 2008 Certification for Professional Quality Management Practices. The University has undertaken various Sponsored and Collaborative Research and Development projects funded by national organizations such as ISRO, DST, IGCAR, DRDO, DBT, MoEF, BRNS, etc.,
About the Department
The Department of Physics is one among the established departments since the inception of the university. The faculty members are actively involved in research in various fields like Condensed Matter physics, Crystal growth, High pressure studies, Dielectrics studies, Nano materials, Nonlinear optics, Spectroscopy and Ultrasonic studies.They have published more than 100 research papers in various international journals.
The Department is aiming to establish facilities for specialized areas of research with assistance of funding agencies. It has research projects funded by DST and ISRO. The faculty members have visited AIMS,Capetown,South Africa and NUS,Singapore to participate in technical workshop and to present papers. The Department is offering M.Phil., and Ph.D., programmes.
